What got you into cosplay?
I've been into costumes and character creation for years, long before I got into anime. I've always loved theatre, and have been a member of two touring drama troupes. In high school, I would dress as various historical figures to do presentations for my AP US History class. In college, I took an acting course just so I could be on stage. I dress up for movie premieres. I dress up for parties. I collect odd costume bits.
...Okay, so maybe I'm just weird. :D
What was your first costume and why?
I've done costumes my whole life, but my first anime costume was Lina Inverse, in the red/blue costume from the novels... because I took stock of all the clothing I owned, and decided that if I were going to get the costume done before the con, I needed to play a character who wore red pants.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Usually, whichever one I'm NOT working on at the moment...! >.< I love vampire!Fay. I'm also kind of partial to Zelgadiss; the costume is comfortable, and it gets a good response from fans. And of course my favorite female character to cosplay is still Noin. :)
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
YES: Wolfina/Snake Heart's Link. *drool* There's also a set of amazing Takarazuka costumes we're planning for 2011...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Winning Best In Show at OhayoCon '07... and falling down the stairs on my way to the stage to receive the award. Ouch.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Always! (Usually as a contestant; occasionally as a judge.) ^_^
What was your best masquerade experience?
That's a hard call... maybe the one where we were supposed to be entered in Novice, but got bumped up to win Best Masters because the judges said our costumes were too good? *dies*
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
