What got you into cosplay?
I first found out about cosplay from seeing pictures on the internet. I'm sort of shy, so at first it didn't seem like something that I would be able to do... but Kaori-chan and I started talking about how fun it would be to make Utena and Anthy costumes and we cosplayed together. I really enjoy making things, so I've been hooked ever since. I like making costumes for myself and some of my friends and cosplaying in groups. I kind of consider myself a casual cosplayer since I can only afford about two cons a year, but it's still my favorite hobby. I mean, anything that combines drawing, painting, sculpting, sewing, and taking pictures just has to be fun. Conventions for me are mini-vacations to spend time with a group of my friends. My cousin Hanamaru even travels from out of state so we can hang out and cosplay together. It's a lot of fun and a nice break from normal life.
What was your first costume and why?
My first cosplay was Anthy Himemiya from Shoujo Kakumei Utena. My friend and I loved the anime so we made Anthy and Utena costumes.
What is your favorite costume and why?
It's usually my most current costume at the time :)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I've had so many good/weird/funny experiences at cons it's hard to remember them all.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
We aren't big competitors and don't always enter contests at every con, but our Akatsuki group won "Best Small Group" at Metrocon 2006, our Zelda: Twilight Princess group won "Best Group" at Metrocon 2008, Hanamaru and I won "Best in Show Overall" at Metrocon 2009 and "First Place Journeyman" at NYAF 2009.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am in college and work part time. I love my family, friends, and pet chihuahua rat dog. I am afraid of public speaking, needles, and of squished bugs. I enjoy most things art and design related, spending time with friends, making costumes, taking pictures, the computer, trying to rollerblade, exercising, games, going to the beach, arcades, movies, and themeparks. Rollercoasters are the best!

Zelda series, Animal Crossing, Super Monkey Ball, Mario Kart, Katamari Damashii, mostly anything for Nintendo I guess. Fighting games, even though I am a terrible button masher. DDR, ITG, and all rhythm games that make me look incredibly goofy. Final Fantasy series, GTA, Personas, The Sims, etc.
