Ex-S Cosplayer

What got you into cosplay?
I'd been watching anime for a few years already and decided I wanted to see what it was like to act out the part of my favorite characters and dress up as them. I've always loved to dress up in costumes, so i guess it wasn't such a hard decision to make.
What was your first costume and why?
I'd been told that I have a strikingly similar personality to Vash the Stampede, and though he wasn't my first attempt at cosplay he was my first really well done costume. I feel very confident in my ability to pull off the Vash personality, and I have tons of fun doing so.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Well currently My Vash cosplay is my only costume, so its definitely my favorite right now, though I'm pretty sure it'll remain one of my favorites even after I make other costumes. Vash really fits my personality a lot and I love to cosplay as him.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd say my dream costume of dream costumes would be the MSA-0011[Ext] Ex-S Gundam: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSA-0011_S_Gundam#MSA-0011.5BExt.5D_Ex-S_Gundam It'll be an insane costume to make, and I likely won't start on it for another year or two, but some day I wanna say I took on an imense cosplay task and succeeded :) Another Dream costume which might be a little easier to make but still looks to be a ways off for me would be a cosplay of the DeviantArt Wen-M's Archangel Michael: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/9378287/ I think that both of these costumes are feasible, just currently out of my league...^^;
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I was at Akon 18, in my Vash cosplay. I was just goofing around, being Vash, when this little girl dressed in a really great Meryl cosplay ran up to me and gave me a hug. Not long after that we ran into a bunch of other Trigun cosplayers, including an awesome Knives, who I later took 2nd place with in a hallway cosplay contest. It was soo awesome to hang out with other people from the same series, especially since Trigun isn't one of the hyped up anime's that everyone does currently. And more than that, it was really fun to hang out with these really cool people who share the same interests in anime as me, it really made my weekend.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not as of yet...
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I just won runner up in a hallway cosplay contest at Akon 2007. I entered with a friend who dressed up as Knives, and we got 2nd place.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently a Junior at John Brown University in Arkansas. I'm majoring in Illustration, and I also work a part time job at the campus cafeteria to help me with expenses. I am adopted, with parents and a sister, as well as birth parents and half siblings. My hobbies include drawing and photoshop work, model kit building, cosplaying (duh, right?) and just goofing around with friends.

My favorite anime
Trigun (of course), Most of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime, as well as lots of other mech anime too. After that the list pretty much goes a long ways down, just ask me if I've seen such and such anime and I'd probably have liked it if I've watched the whole thing through.
My favorite game(s)
I'm not too much of a hard core gamer, but I really like the classic mario games (really rusty though). I also like Halo and DDR, both are fun to play with friends. I also play Ragnarok online from time to time as well. I would like catch up on all the great PS2 rpg's like the FF series and Kingdom Hearts and all the other ones people tell me about...

The Bible, the LotR series, the Harry Potter series, the Halo novel series, the recent Transformer novel series, Eragon and Eldest, The Temeraire series, and lots of various manga of course. I actually like the Trigun and Trigun Maximum manga a bunch more than I do the anime...
