What got you into cosplay?
I had been an anime fan for a while, and I think I heard about cosplay online. Naturally, I wanted to give it a try--and after a few conventions, my conviction to try this strange, awesome new hobby was cemented.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Pikachu. I've been a big Pokémon fan since I was nine years old, and seeing as Pokémon is what got me into anime in the first place, I thought it would be fitting to make a tribute to it with my first costume.
What is your favorite costume and why?
It's a toss-up between Boota and Densuke, but I feel like my cosplay skills are always improving so my newest costumes will generally be my best.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd love to make a super-impressive Pokémon costume. Perhaps next year!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Getting to meet GAINAX in my Boota costume!
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not yet, but I would like to someday! Maybe when my friends and I manage to do cosplay that's actually coordinated within the same series. We're usually so scattered series-wise that a skit would be difficult.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an Animal Science major hoping to be a wildlife or avian veterinarian. During the summer, I rehab wild birds (mostly crows, jays, and magpies, but plenty of other species, too) and occasionally help with the fawns. I love writing, drawing, cosplay (of course!), and all sorts of different anime series.
