What got you into cosplay?
I've always loved costumes and dressing up, which is why I have a *coughtotallyuselesscough* degree in Theatre Tech with a focus on costume design.
What was your first costume and why?
My first anime con was Otakon '98, and I wanted to dress up as SOMEbody. A friend of mine was a big FF7 fan (I, backwoods thing, didn't even have a PS) and suggested Tifa. I had all the parts, but bought suspenders and some long black socks (snipped out the fingers) for the gloves. It was terrible, of course. It was also 1998.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Viktor costume from Suikoden, as it is comfortable to wear, I love the character, and I don't have to look like a twiggy thing in it. Also I love my partner's Flik costume, so we always have a good time. The wig is a pain in the head, though.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Too many to list. Grissom, from Vagrant Story. I'd love to do a KH2 Squall, though, just so I have a decent excuse to wear my griever pendant. Bartholomei Fatima to match my partner's Billy would be good too.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Standing in an elevator at the late, lamented Shoujoucon when two girls behind me said, in tones of great awe, "We're in an ELEVATOR with SEIFER." I got a picture with them later.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Nope, I dress up just for the hella dressing up and having my picture taken. My partner is stage shy, so we don't do skits, and competition makes my blood pressure go kablooie, so we don't do contests.
Tell us a little about yourself
In real life I pretend to be a mild-mannered ordinary citizen holding down a boring grownup job and making car payments, who in no way has an assortment of plastic weapons in her kitchen closet.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
while sewing, I have so often cursed Tetsuya Nomura's name that, if he ever got hit by a bullet train, I'd feel really lousy. ~ special thanks to LJ user sarisa for my icon! ~
