What got you into cosplay?
Seeing others in their own spectacular costumes made me want to try it, too.
What was your first costume and why?
Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing. I chose it for many reasons: Duo was my favorite character at the time; his costume was easy to pull off (especially the long braid); and I have rather masculine proportions for a girl, among other things.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My current one: Koganei Kaoru from Flame of Recca. I really like the character and I've put a lot of effort into the costume, more than I've ever done, just to make it look good. Many thanks to my good friends for suggesting I take the risk and helping me learn to sew.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Too many to list. Koganei used to be my dream costume, and now that I've created it, my aspirations are limitless.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Kumoricon '07 - Cosplay: Koganei Kaoru. I was standing at a cat ear crafting booth with a friend and we were both making cat ears. However, the underground parking lot where we were located was crowded and hot; the glue guns didn't help any, I'm sure. So I start fanning myself with my hand, not realizing how feminine a gesture I was making until the head of Cat Ear Creation looked at me oddly and asked me if I was a girl. I just about died laughing when I told him that, yes, I was a girl. I felt pretty proud of my crossplay abilities that day, slip-up aside.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, at least not yet.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
No, but I hope to participate in a contest sometime.
