What got you into cosplay?
Several things actually. The first had to be how out of place I felt going to anime cons WITHOUT a costume. The second is the love of the characters, and how it makes me relate to them more (Most of the characters I intend to cosplay relate to some aspect of my personality). Third, its just downright fun!
What was your first costume and why?
My actual first costume was of my Archer from Ragnarok Online, and I just wanted to dress as something. My first dedicated character (and the first costume I made myself) was Kairi (KH2 version) because I like the character, and I wanted to do a couple cosplay with my Fiance, who I was making a Sora costume for.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Update 4/20/08 Costumes I've worn? Lime from Saber Marionette J, the shoes squeaked! Costumes I've made? Its a toss up between Lime and Sora. The Sora costume was great fun to make and looked great on Jason, and was a vast improvement over the first one. Lime brought me new challenges (though I've only been doing this for a year, so every endeavor is a new challenge I guess). It was the first costume where the main part was made using no pattern for reference at all (the previous ones were heavily modified patterns), First time sewing spandex, first time making a bodysuit (modified from a swimsuit pattern), and first wig styling, all of which I'm really happy with. And of course, my best oversized shoes yet!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Updated 4/20/08 Just made and debuted it. Lime was my dream costume for years, and I finally finished it, squeaky shoes and all, just the way I had wanted it. And it all started with and ridiculously oversized red Christmas ornament!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Updated 4/20/08 At this point I'm really not sure. Their are so many great moments. Though I have to say winning my first cosplay award at this years Tekko was a big (and unexpected) moment in my book ^_^
Do you participate in masquerades?
Nah. I have HORRIBLE stage fright, like I mean the shake, dry mouth, loss of motorfuntions, the whole nine. But my baby loves doing them so I'm content to support him.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Updated 4/20/08 Just did last weekend. For my Lime costume. Only my fourth costume Ive ever made. I never had the nerve to enter Hall Cosplay before. But my friends loved it so much the insisted I enter. I still can believe I won Best of Friday. O_O I still don't think its sunk in yet... eheh
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an Art major in college. I was at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Animation, but I just can't take the 3D animation and they wouldn't let me practice solely in 2D which is my strength. So I switched to Graphic Design, then switched to a local college to finish up my art degree. I'm very easygoing. Hard to anger or upset, easy to please and make laugh. I can be kinda shy at times but I love meeting new people. I'm a fangirl, yes, but I hide it well. I'm a hopeless romantic, but not really into yaoi. And I'm only hyper if you're hyper and wind me up. ^_^
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm EXTREMELY ADD, like full blown out there. If I don't take my meds or focus... Think Osaka (Azu Manga). That bad. Which makes make it difficult for people to understand that I'm pretty smart. I zone out a lot, and so will sometimes blank out of conversation or out of nowhere voice a random though, but apparently my friends find my quirks endearing, so I can live with that ^_~
My favorite anime
Hmmm... well of the newer ones, I'd have to say, Naruto/Naruto Shippuden (GAH, don't flog me! I almost never watch Cartoon Network anymore, I just enjoy the show) And If it were and Actual anime and not just in the style, I'd have to say Avatar. Awesome show. Going olderschool though... Record of Lodoss War, Ranma 1/2, Saber Marionette J, and Slayers. There are alot I like, but these are my faves
My favorite game(s)
This ones alot easier. I'm more a gamer than an anime watcher ATM. Lets see... The Kingdom Hearts Series, the Jak and Daxter Series, Zelda, Mario games, party games, and of course, DDR.
My favorite book(s)
I'm not much a reader, what with the short attention span. If we go with manga's pretty much any of the ones that go with the respective animes I like. though somehow I'm drawn to a good fanfic... ^_^
My favorite character(s)
Anime/Cartoons/Manga: Lime (Saber Marionette), Deedlit and Leaf (Lodoss War), Ranma, Genma, and Ryoga (Ranma 1/2), Hinata, Kakashi, Shikamaru... and several others (Naruto), and nearly EVERY CHARCTER in Avatar! Games: Sora, Kairi, Riku, Roxas, Namine, Axel, and Demyx (Kingdom Hearts 2), Keira <3, Jak, Daxter, and Sig (Jak and Daxter series)
My favorite movies(s)
Serenity (because Firefly is and awesome and under appreciated tv series... Space Western!), Twister (storms fascinate me), ummm... theres too many
