What got you into cosplay?
I'd have to say what seriously got me into Cosplay was the internet. I never knew cosplay existed until back in 2001 I saw some of the first big cosplay websites popping up and was in awe of some of the beautiful and skilled cosplayers. The idea of dressing up and getting to be my favourite character for a day was just too awesome. Cosplay for me is all about the character and my love for the manga or show. Every time I feel strongly for a character or REALLY like something- I get the dreaded 'LET'S COSPLAY FROM THAT!' virus.
What was your first costume and why?
My first REAL costume was Haku from Spirited Away. It was my first actual costume in the sense that everything was made from scratch sewing wise, and it was my first time putting serious effort into a wig or trying to look like the actual character- and going to a con to cosplay. Despite the fact it was my first costume I really tried hard on Haku, and despite the fact I was young I think the effort and love really shines through- Alot better than some of my much newer stuff, which is kind of crap in comparison. After having so much fun picking all the fabrics, hunting for the wig and finally piecing it all together- I knew I was completely hooked from that point on.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I have a really hard time picking favourite costumes, since I tend to hate parts of all of my costumes and then completely love other parts. I'm pretty picky and nothing ever really feels 100% good or finished to me. At the moment I'd have to say D'eon from le Chevalier D'eon. It was my first time really making a huge structured dress or corset, and I just LOVE D'eon. Getting to run around as him with an amazing sword made by an awesome friend was just too much fun. It's also the first costume I have EVER reworn to another con, so I think that is also an attaching factor.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yes, I have multiple. My oldest dream costume would have to be Prince Arislan's golden king armor. I love it to bits, and am patiently waiting for the day I'll be skinny and talented enough to pull it off.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
This probably sounds SO cheesey, but making a lot of my good friends through cosplay has been the most memorable thing. When I first started this hobby I had no idea I would meet so many amazing and talented people, and that I would later become great friend with them outside of the cosplay community.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Sometimes. I used to think it was pretty much mandatory when I was younger. I didn't feel complete if I competed. Now I only compete when I feel like I have something worth showing, and am alot pickier about what I'm putting on stage and what I'm doing.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Having fun with friends in the green room, going onstage and owning with a fun skit and hearing the great audience reactions. I love performing, and going onstage and being recieved well for my costumes and skits is such a high.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I've won a whole bunch of awards, the problem being that the ribbons all look the same- So I can never remember WHAT I won or when. The best time was when I woke up after passing out drunk in my hotel room and found a hall award in my pocket. BEST SURPRISE EVER.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm in university studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I live with two of my best friends that I cosplay with, in a small apartment in downtown Toronto. I like music, drawing, martial arts and a whole wackload of other things. Anime is one of my lesser hobbies, but definitely the most expensive.

WHY IS COSPLAY SO GODDAMN EXPENSIVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH. IT EATS MY MONEY LIKE NO TOMORROOOOOW Okay, got that out of my system, thanks :D
