What got you into cosplay?
I love costumes and when I finally got hauled out to my first Anime Expo my good friend Morose said I had to go as Wolfwood, seeing as he was my all-time favorite. I didn't know you didn't HAVE to dress up for Expo.
But I have ever since.
What was your first costume and why?
My first REAL costume was Irvine Kinneas back in 8th grade. I saw his picture on my friend's strategy guide and that was it; I loved cowboys. I naturally had his hairstyle, had the trenchcoat minus the fur, and wore a shirt instead of a vest that matched the color perfectly. It was just an excuse to have fun and be a cowboy.
Wolfwood, my first cosplay, was more coercion than choice, but was tons of fun since I actually went out to spend money on it and it was my first real wig.
What is your favorite costume and why?
So far, it's a tie between Gojyo (because of building the Shakujo and being so comfortable) and Walter (because of the gatherings).
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Some day I will have a working confessional or a working stun gun to go as Millie.
Until then, I want to finish my Sanosuke costume since he is, as my pals put it, my "anime alter ego".
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Last Expo I arrived alone and had hours to wait for my friend Morose, so I decided to cruise the dealer's hall. I make it halfway down the escalator, see the giant Geneon/Hellsing booth, all the cosplayers, and grin. By the time I took one step off I heard about ten voices shout "WALTER!" and an Integra came sprinting towards me, wrapping her arms around me, and claiming me as hers. She, her Alucard, a Schrodinger, and a Seras all became some of my closest friends that year.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I never know when it is so I never sign up on time. Someday I'll do it.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm still in school, I love my job despite it being part-time, I like my classes, I LOVE writing, and actually have a pretty decent relationship with my folks. Back home I have two ex-racing dogs named Ralph and Cloud (not FF7 inspired), who I wonder if I could find costumes for just for the hell of it.
My favorite anime
Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, Saiyuki, Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach, and a bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head.
