What got you into cosplay?
The costumes. I'll do just about anything as long as it involves costumes. I've gone from halloween costumes to ren faire costumes and now to anime.
What was your first costume and why?
First costume I did myself was Dernhelm (Eowyn) from Lord of the Rings. First anime costume was the Ouran high school girl's uniform.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Favorite costume ever would be the Christine Daae Music of the Night costume (from Phantom of the Opera) I did. I had a lot of fun making the Victorian corset with a historically accurate pattern. However, I think Saber will be my favorite once I finish the armor.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'm still looking for something insanely elaborate, but haven't fully decided.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The Ouran gathering at AX.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I participated in one at MikomiCon '07. I spent most of the day panicking that I had no skit of any kind.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Actually just getting out there on stage and doing the bit. The feeling you have walking off the stage with people cheering at the end is one of the best.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I won "Best Craftsmanship" and "Best Costume - Consplayers" for Saber in the masq. I also got a neat little achievement ribbon for cosplay in the hall at Ani-magic.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm going to UCLA and trying to finish my degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, and a minor in English. I also work stock in the student store on campus and hate it.
My favorite anime
It's still Ouran High School Host Club. Though Fate/Stay Night, Romeo x Juliet, and Fullmetal Alchemist are up there as well.
