What got you into cosplay?
Sailor Moon at halloween. I was 17 and completely enamoured with the show. Mom then made me a costume for halloween. It was wickedly short. I later learned to sew. I saw a picture for a model toy of Anthy in 2000 and said, "I don't know who she is, but I am cosplaying HER!" Later that year I saw Utena and was hooked.
What was your first costume and why?
Sailor Moon. It was my first anime love and still holds a special place in my heart. Later it came to my attention I would make a better Pluto :D
What is your favorite costume and why?
Claudia Grant/LaSalle. She's a full working suit, easy to get into, and comfortable. It would be Rosebride, but years later...now that I am better at sewing I know I can make her better.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Wow, um...gosh. I usually stay within my abilities and try not to moon over stuff I can't make...so I never gave it much thought. A Lothlorian Elf Archer costume was be cool though now that I think about it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
While dressed as Zoë Washburne at Dragoncon, Adam Baldwin (Jayne) waved at me and mouthed "I love you!" Some girls who really liked my Rosebride at AZ came up to me the next day and presented me with a Chu Chu they made from a monkey plushie. That really touched me they would do that for someone they just met.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not really. No one has really asked me to be in skits often and I am not creative enough to come up with something other than walking on stage.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Winning because I pay attention to detail and do good workmanship.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Rosebride got Best Attention to Detail at AFO 3. Dark Duelist Anthy got 1st Place Intermediate at AFO 6. Zoë Washburne won 1st Place at the Browncoat Premier Shindig.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a recent college grad... recent as in three years ago. I don't seem to be as career ambitious as I thought I would be. I have an nuclear family by today's standard. I am the youngest and weirdest of the 3...I'm the intellectual one. I also have far too many hobbies. Home design books are a weakness.
