Kirakins

Well, I already mentioned my very first cosplay experience which was Tifa. I premiered that costume at Kumoricon way back in 2003. That was my very first convention and I was hooked ever since. I haven't been able to go to very man cons (3 different ones currently) but I've been going to them every year since 2003. I hope to continue exploring more cons around the U.S. and make friends at every one I go to!

My mom used to make costumes for me when I was younger every Halloween and I loved it. I was totally one of those kids that started planning my next Halloween costume November 1st, haha. I knew how to sew because my mom taught me, but I didn't know any cool ways to apply it until I discovered Cosplay! It was a joyous event learning that I could make costumes out of the anime/manga/video game characters I loved so much, and that there were whole conventions for them! So yeah!

I've tried my hand at prop-making and wig styling, neither of which I'm very good at! I try my hardest with every costume though, and the most labor-intensive one so far is Roxas. I've done the coat 4 times (And I plan on re-making it at least once more x.x), the shirt 2 times, (though I did the coat before the shirt, so that gave me experience on knowing how to do it right), the bracelet 3 times, and the pants 2 times. Not to mention all the extra details and time I've put in... So yeah!

What got you into cosplay?
Well, I always loved Anime. And I've always loved sewing, I just didn't ever really like making clothes for myself, so I never knew WHAT to sew. Around 2003,my best friend mentioned there would be an Anime Convention here in little Oregon! So, naturally, we researched and found.. Cosplay! It's been an addiction ever since.
What was your first costume and why?
Tifa. It was god awful. Mostly closet cosplay with light sewing. I liked her character, and I believe my friend was going as Aeris. I was a blonde, flat chested Tifa, lmfao. UGH.
What is your favorite costume and why?
ROXAS! Cuz he Rox-Ass, lawl! Nah, it's because I've put so much work into the costume and I feel that I can portray him really well. Plus I love my wig and dressing as a 15 year old boy is fun! Haha XD
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh definitely. I'd love to make a Sephiroth costume for my boyfriend, and a kick-ass Shiva costume for me :P
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Mmm. There are so many. I guess the most memorable was being Freya from Chobits with my best friend. She cosplayed as Chii. It was sorta wierd, we never had that much attention in cosplay, but people were snapping photos like crazy. Also, meeting people while in my Roxas cosplay. (Especially Axel's, Chuuuuuu~~!)
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not award persay, but I was invited on-stage in my Winry costume XD
Tell us a little about yourself
I am in college for Women's Studies and Computer Science, yay nerd! I used to run my own guild on World of Warcraft, with over 200 members. I have a family, my dad is the coolest dad ever. He plays WoW with me and my boyfriend! My mom sorta taught me to sew (I also taught myself a lot of things), and she is a very good seamstress, so woot! I love all the relationship possibilities in Kingdom Hearts. Yaoi/Yuri (although not in KH XD) fangirl at heart, but I do support KairiSora, KairiRiku, NamineRoxas as well as AkuRoku, RokuSora, AkuDemmy, RokuRiku, and many others.
