What got you into cosplay?
I've been a performer for years, but a few friends and I finally took that step to go to our first Cosplay Gathering when we went to the Oklahoma Anime, Cosplay and Gaming Society in Norman. We are now planning more.
What was your first costume and why?
ElfQuest. I created a costume based of of Nightshade from the Windi Pini ElfQuest saga because I started my very own Medieval/Fantasy group that role played in the back yard. That was many years ago. (unless you count the Care Bear Costumes I made when I was 7ish. I have pictures and no I won't show them. lol)
Since then I have worked at local Medieval and Renaissance Faires all over my area in historical or fantasy garb.
My first costume specifically for a cosplay event was Queen Beryl from PGSM, Live Action Sailor Moon.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I do not have a favorite, as I have too many costumes to count. However, Syaoran from Tsubasa and Jo from Burst Angel are definitely amongst the top. Beryl is awesomely cool, but takes so blessedly long to get into.
So those are so far my three faves out of the 5 cosplay specific costumes I have amongst my 100's of costumes.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Someday, I want to make Sarah's Dress from the Ball in Labrynth. ::Drools:: I doubt that will ever happen though, not anytime soon. Until then I've got a huge list of characters to costume and perform as.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My first cosplay experience was a small gathering with the Oklahoma Cosplay, Anime and Gaming Society. I will always remember that my first event, though small, was the first time one of my costumes ever won an award. Two other costumes I helped with also won awards that day.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes I do, in fact, we host our own Renaissance Festivals called "Scarlet's Renaissance Festivals" in the winter and the summer. The host is a 7 foot tall fox named Scarlet and our company Mascot who dresses up too. We host a Masked Ball each Saturday night of the one weekend event.
It is nice, however, to participate in one that we are not hosting. LOL
What was your best masquerade experience?
Scarlet the Fox (FoxMoon) dressed up as Zorro. He was so cute!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Queen Beryl-1st in Sailor Moon portion at Gathering
- 1st at Suncoasts Cosplay Day Competition
Luna Lovegood - 2nd in competition at Wizard Rock Concert.
Syaoran Li (and Meiling) won first place for Walk-ons at Hana-Con.
Tell us a little about yourself
I work for my husband, the owner of FoxMoon Productions, and I take care of the business. It's a full time job to perform, sew, answer emails and keep up the website and advertising.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I have two bunnies that may someday come with me. One is a floppy eared albino named Artemis and the other is white with pointy grey ears and nose named Athena.
My favorite anime
I have a HUGE collection. I'm running out of room. There is no way to pick just a few as my favorites. I love them all.
Tsubasa, Ceres, Burst Angel, Gravitation, Chobits, Nightwalker.. Just to name a few.
My favorite game(s)
I don't have much time for games, but the ooooold school NES Final Fantasy, Super NES Final Fantasy II & III and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.. Of course, there is also anything Mario Brothers!
My favorite book(s)
My favorite character(s)
Too many favorite characters, movies, stories and such to count. Don't make me choose.
I have favorites from every anime I watch.
My favorite actors/actresses
Favorite voice actors:
Greg and Chris Ayers for their talent and being so kind to me! Josh, you rocked!
Monica Rial for her work in Burst Angel, which made me want to cosplay Jo just to meet her. Even though I missed her the first time, there is always the next.
Vic, he just sounds so gosh darn cute.
Add to that the talent of Jason Leibrecht (sp?) with his totally perfect rendition of the older Syaoran Li.
That's about it.
