What got you into cosplay?
I went to my first convention without a costume, then cobbled together (quite literally) a "costume" out of pieces of paper to strap onto myself. The paper on my chest said NPC. After that, I decided that it was time to get *real* costumes. I started out buying them, due to the lack of any sewing knowledge. This past summer ('11) I actually put together my first costume, and I'm not going back.
What was your first costume and why?
Inui from The Prince of Tennis. Mostly because A: I love the show, and B: I already owned the glasses!
What is your favorite costume and why?
Korea! I put that costume on, and I just immediately feel bouncier and happier and, well, more Korea-like! He's also the first one I ever made myself, so I have a special sort of fondness for it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yes. But I honestly can't pin it down to one. Most of them are of the "after I lose weight" category, too. Boo.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
At Otakon, while I was sitting around wearing Korea, this girl came up to me who was very obviously Korean. She was very timid and shy about it, but she said that she could possibly get in trouble for it, but she knew who I was, and she really wanted my picture. After she got it, she gave me the biggest hug, and then scampered off. It was really adorable.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I would love to!
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently the assistant to a friend who is starting up her own import business! It's really exciting. We have so much fandom merchandise ready to sell.
