Demri
I enjoy cosplaying a lot. It's been a hobby of mine since I started the whole con thing in 2003 and it's stuck with me. Of course, there's not always a whole lot of time for it, what with the whole job thing, but that's okay. One thing I've learned (oh, I am so wise) is that "real life" always comes first. I do wish I had more time and (financial) resources to devote to cosplay, but I can make do with what I've got.
I also love animals, am a vegan, and have five ferrets and two cats whom I love very much.
Other things I like are writing, knitting, coffee, and Fiona Apple.
And last, but certainly not least, I am very happily engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. I love you, Mattski!!!!
Ah, I love the fact that life's done a complete 180 from about two years ago. I am very happy and content with life now and to anyone who wants to try and steal that away from me: RAWR! I is FIERCE!!!!
What got you into cosplay?
I really liked the idea of taking a pixellated character and bringing them to life, so to speak. Specifically, I wanted to be Quistis. ^_^
What was your first costume and why?
Quistis Trepe from Final Fantasy VIII - I relate so well with her character and became obsessed with her right from the beginning of the game. Then I found out about cosplay and spent the next couple months creating and recreating both of the outfits she wears in FFVIII.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I love my Qusitis costumes. I have the most fun cosplaying as her and I think I've done better with her than I have with the other characters I cosplay. Although, I really do like cosplaying as EVA from MGS3, too...
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Not really. Whenever there's a costume I really want to make, I make it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I'd have to say that would be Saturday night at Otakon 2007 when Matt and I were alone and playing out on the balcony and he was singing "Fly Me to the Moon." That was very sweet. ^_^
Do you participate in masquerades?
Occasionally, yes.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I'd have to say my favorite masquerade experience was at AnimeNext 2006. Our skit was called "The Secret CQC" and I got to play EVA disguised as Ocelot from MGS3, and Andy was Big Boss. I got to utter the infamous line (well, yeah, in my mind, anyway), "Oh, Pika, you're so naughty!" Pikachu + MGS = LOVE.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not at a convention, but I was voted the best Integra look-alike in the October 2004 CosplayLab contest, which was a very pleasant, very big surprise. ^_^
Tell us a little about yourself
I've been an avid video gamer and writer since I was a wee little lass, and those are just about the only two constants in my life. Oh, and my love for animals. I am a vegan, animal rights activist, and proud mommy of a cat, seven ferrets, four fish (RIP my beloved Apollo, who was with us for three years), and a froggy. I likies my manga a lot, too.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I want vegan pocky!!
