About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I always enjoyed making costumes for Halloween, and I'd done various book and movies characters for Halloween before knowing that this had an official name. When I got into high school I learned a friend of mine was into cosplay, however it was never seen as a serious endeavor until my senior year of High School. When I got into college and had more disposable income of my own and some friend to encourage me, my cosplay habit really bloomed.
What was your first costume and why?
I think the first costume that I made with the word cosplay in mind was Temari of Naruto. It was pretty awful. Made of t-shirts and some bandannas, it's embarrassing to think how great I thought it was at the time. One day I'm hoping to cosplay Temari again, now that I've gained significantly more skills.
What is your favorite costume and why?
You know honestly, I don't know if I have a hands down without a doubt favorite, partially because by the time I'm done with a costume I'm so tired of working on it that I'm already sick of the costume. But I suppose if I had to pick, it'd be the Nurse. While its not perfectly accurate and its always in a state of refurbishment, its a ton of fun. The reactions to it are great, and I love being dirty and dressed as a screaming hellbeast.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
AnimeNorth 2009. We were told about an hour before the skit competition that our audio might not work, but we wouldn't know for sure until we got on stage. Which then induced much panicking among our skit members, a few groups before us hadn't had working audio either, and they just left the stage. Which really isn't the Animosity way, luckily we come up with about 800 skit ideas we never use, we decided on one, and when the time came and our audio didn't work, as we suspected, we made something up on the spot. And we won Best in Show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqWBr6yxDU4&feature=channel_page
Do you participate in masquerades?
Animosity Cosplay has been doing skits for as long as they've been in existence. I've only been in a few skits with them.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My first masquerade was Ohayocon 2008, where Animosity Cosplay did "The Akatsuki Can't...", we really didn't expect anything for that skit. It was a really lame premise and it was just a bunch of cheap laughs, but we won Best in Show, which just blew my mind, especially since it was the first time I'd preformed with Animosity.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Best In Show - Ohayocon 2008, 3rd Place Overall - Penguicon 2008, Judges Award - Youmacon 2008, Best In Show - Ohayocon 2009, Best Group - Penguicon 2009, Best In Show - AnimeNorth 2009, Best Master Performance - Youmacon 2010
