What got you into cosplay?
I've always liked making costumes. Before I mostly did it for Halloween, always trying to make costumes of my favorite superheroes. I didn't get into the convention circuit until a few years ago. My friend invited me to go along to Ohayocon. Knowing people dressed up at conventions, I took the full opportunity & threw together a few costumes. While bad compared to stuff I make now, it was still a fun time!
What was your first costume and why?
First costume I finished was Rubyheart from Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I've never been really heavy into anime, so picking a cool looking character from one of my favorite fighting games seemed like a logical choice.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I've got 2. Most recently, it's my Dante costume, because I'm another stereotypical DMC fangirl. It's also one of the best costumes I've put together. I'm just very proud of it.
The other costume I love is my Ms. Marvel/Warbird costume. She's my favorite Marvel heroine & I feel a sense of empowerment when I wear it. *lol* I also really liked how it turned out. It turned out better than my other attempts with lycra.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd really like to make Lady from DMC3, which I actually started on, but quit. I'm too lazy to finish it! >_<
Other than that, maybe Jill Valentine. (at least that one seems like more of a realistic goal.)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My first convention, in my ghetto Excel costume. A fat man chased me down in the hallway & tackled me.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Nah. I'm usually in the hallways or game room.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I dunno. First con I went to I watched half of the masquerade & there was a funny skit with Guts proclaiming lewd love to his sword.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Never entered any.
Tell us a little about yourself
Costuming & going to conventions is just a hobby of mine. I work a dead end retail job, so it's just nice to get out once in a while.
I'm a huge comic book nerd. I have a weird thing for Multiple Man. I have an abnormally large collection of statues, busts, & figures.
I have a pretty big movie collection (mostly horror & sci-fi).
Enjoy video gaming (mostly fighting games, action titles, & platformers, which BTW, the new Ratchet & Clank on PS3 is tons of fun!)
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Cosplaying is wonderful, because it lets me wear my artwork. How's that for self promotion? *lol* Plus I get to pay homage to things I love, which is always cool.
