What got you into cosplay?
I guess the fact that my mom is a seamstress and she loves sewing with her sewing machine. After being surrounded by all those materials for years, I guess I picked up one of her traits. *squee* On top of that, I liked the thought of dressing up like an anime character since my childhood, so i began cosplaying as Ash Ketchum and Beet the Vandel Buster back in 2006.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. I guess cuz I had to toss something up for Shimakon (the anime convention I created) and I needed something plain and simple...and it wasnt as simple as I thought it would be. I had done it all by hand and only wore it to the Pre-Con event and not to the con because as chair of the con (at the time), I couldn't linger in costumes.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume would have to be Taichi Yagami because of the fact that I love the character in the first place. Second, I live in Texas and the heat here is not much of an obstacle when it comes to the costume. Third, I get a lot of compliments and appreciation from original Digimon fans for bringing their childhood back again.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
One of my dream costumes would have to be Ken Ichijouji's Digimon Emperor. I would like to cosplay a villain for once and I like the look of that costume.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I am always glad to bring anime fans with a smile when I cosplay a character they once liked as kids.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have begun competing in cosplay shows, after being dragged by Nura and his team at A-kon 19. As of now, I am part of skits and cosplay shows (when I thought, I'd never do that) and now, I am going to begin working on skits on my own not for competition but for amusement, if a price comes out of it, awesome!
What was your best masquerade experience?
Well, the best masquerade experience doesnt happen on stage for me but in conventions overall. At San Japan and AnimeFEST I got the warmest compliments from Digimon fans and yes, i was thanked by plenty for returning their childhood memories. So I am very glad to portray Taichi.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I have, I won at an anime costume contest that FYE was hosting at Ingram Park Mall XD
Also, recently at Onicon, I was awarded Judge's Pick and awarded for being a Nostalgic Character...which to my misfortune, I was not present at the time of the award.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a simpleton who is currently a poor human...so i have decided to balance out as a commissioner for both cosplay outfits and anime art clothing under the label of Digital Yume.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am a people's person. In other words, I am a person that is open to everyone and is always looking for new things in life. I have done everything from Acting on Stage to fixing cars, so honestly, I am willing to try new things.
