What got you into cosplay?
I've always admired other people's cosplays since I first heard of it. But I never did anything myself. Then in the summer of 2003, I finally decided to try my hand at it and ended up loving it.
What was your first costume and why?
My first cosplay was Thief Rikku from FFX-2. I love Rikku's spunk and personality and identified with what kind of person she was. So my friend and I decided that with FFX-2 coming out soon, we'd do Rikku's and Yuna's default modes for Big Apple Anime Fest 2003. And it was awesome ^^
But if you want to get really technical, my first cosplay was Misty, from Pokemon. It was many a Halloween ago, but I still have the negatives of those photos somewhere...
What is your favorite costume and why?
Roxas Roxas Roxas. I've spent so much time and effort and money on that costume. But it's all worth it because I love him so much. I really really love how it's all turned out in the end, and I just love dressing up as him too.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Once I feel confident enough and have a good grasp of different ways of sewing and such, I'd love to make Amano Terra from FFVI and Amano Kuja from FFIX. There's just so much possibility and options with those costumes, I'd love to give it a try. I'd also love love love to make Garnet's coronation outfit from Final Fantasy IX. It's a beautiful design and it'd really put my skills to the test. I would absolutely love to make and wear it. Plus, it's a costume that I wouldn't need a wig for, and I already have a floor-length petticoat for it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I can't really say, but photoshoots are always great. Everyone has a lot of fun and laughs a lot and it's great to see so many people from a series gathered together. I just wish I had more guts to actually talk with more people though. I'm kinda shy at conventions ;_;
Do you participate in masquerades?
I just participated in my first at NYAF '07. It was incredibly wonderful and oh god I'd love to do it again.
What was your best masquerade experience?
See above. So of course, that one's the best.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
1st Place Journeyman (Hall Cosplay) @ Zenkaikon 2007 for Roxas
1st Place Journeyman (Masq.) @ NYAF 2007 for Roxas
Aimee's Judges Award (Masq.) @ NYAF 2007 for Roxas
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
