What got you into cosplay?
One year I went to Australia and my friends all went to Otakon without me. The next year, I told them I was determined to go, because no one's allowed to have that much fun without me. My friend Pam asked "Oooh! Do you have a costume?" I responded with "Um, no. I can make one?" And so I did.
What was your first costume and why?
Saionji from Revolutionary Girl Utena. Mainly because I wanted the excuse to dye my hair green.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Saionji is easy to wear and very comfortable, so possibly that one. Serenity, though new, looks to be a favorite as well.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Ooooooh... Some day, some day I'd like to be comfortable enough to do Lafiel's captain's uniform.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Being assaulted by fangirls before I even got in *line* to pick up my badge at my first con. "Saioooooonji-samaaaaaa!" O_o
Do you participate in masquerades?
On occasion. Infrequently.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Um. Meeting Kara Dennison while "trespassing" on stage and having her stand up for us and pretend she knew us. ^_^ That was awesome. I love her.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
*nods* Two hall costume awards. I also won some when I was a little kid as scifi convention masquerades. "Prettiest" and "Best Use of Blue" I believe. *laughs*
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.... the second place award for the novice division in Otakon 2004's Hall Costume Contest.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an undergraduate at a liberal arts college. Majoring in East Asian Studies and minoring in Geology. Because I'm insane. I want to be a writer. I collect blank books, rocks, anime, plushies, pretty stamps, dolls, dragon paraphernalia. I... have a lot of interests.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I really hate people who block bottlenecks just so they can stand there and have a conversation. Grrr.
