What got you into cosplay?
Seeing pictures of my online friends in costume, during their first anime convention in the Philippines back in 2000! I thought it was neat, and have wanted to try it out for myself ever since... I've been playing video games for 20 years, and watching anime for 15 years of my life now, so it was only a matter of time, haha. Growing up, I always thought it would be neat to make outfits based on my favorite anime and video game characters, but didn't know it was called "cosplay" until about 10 years ago. lol
What was your first costume and why?
My *very* first costume was SailorMars from SailorMoon for Halloween back in 1996, my mom sewed the outfit for me, and I did the tiara and picked out shoes to match! I was so proud of myself for hot glueing a red rhinestone to yellow ribbon to make the tiara, haha.
The first costume I made entirely by myself was Allenby Beardsley from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, it was definitely a learning experience! First time using/altering a pattern, dyeing fabric using Rit Dye, styling/spiking a wig, and making shoe covers.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Allenby's civilian outfit, which also happens to be my first completed costume! Even though I have to wear a ridiculous looking wig, I get to wear sneakers. Any costume with comfortable shoes = AWESOME. I love G Gundam, and had to pay tribute to the show somehow, not to mention Allenby is one of my favorite Gundam girls ever!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Aww man, a TON. The big one I had planned for '09 being Allenby's Mobile Trace Suit, I wasn't able to start on as I was burned out from sewing stuff for AX... so definitely sometime next year, when I'm not so pressed for time because of work! The rest of my "dream costumes" aren't costumes I'd wear myself, but ones I'll be working on for my fiance.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
This little girl cosplaying as Shippo approached me on the last day of AX '08, asking,"may I take my picture with you?" OMG SHE WAS SO CUTE AND ADORABLE I NEARLY DIED. A lot of parents asked me to pose for pics with their kids, even some tourists wanted pictures with me which was really... weird and random. lol
Tell us a little about yourself
I can be extremely shy when first meeting people, as I'm always hesitant to come up and introduce myself, or just talk in general. My current job doesn't leave me with much free time unfortunately, but I do enjoy working on costumes (and sewing in general), watching anime, playing video games, collecting figures, and ever-so-slowly- building model kits when time and money permits! I'm not crazy about updating my coscom account 'cept during the con season and to check for gathering threads, so sorry for the lack of photos and whatnot. I'm more active on ACP, and keep all my progress pictures posted on my lj (username: shiimapan), so feel free to add me there as I love making new friends through this hobby. It's also the best way to keep in touch with me, the other being to bug the hell out of me on MSN. lol

I mainly play Super Robot Wars and JRPGs. I'm Sega Genesis junkie, and old school Sonic fangirl to the core... the reason why I pretty much refuse to play any of the newer games. lol
