What got you into cosplay?
Zenkaikon 07' (10/13/07) - It was my very first anime convention I'd been to. It seemed like alot of fun to cosplay as a favorite character and be able to role play that character. I liked the idea that you could dress up as one of your favorite characters and act like the character freely. I was originally going to cosplay for Halloween but then I realized it would be alot more fun to cosplay at an anime convention with other cosplayers. So, instead, I decided to cosplay at an anime convention two weeks later, which was Shikkaricon 07'.
What was your first costume and why?
Uchiha, Sasuke was my first cosplay because I feel as though I have almost the same personality and demeanor. I also feel like I can connect with the character on a personal level. So, I knew it would be rather easy to cosplay as one of my favorite characters. I wanted to cosplay Uchiha, Sasuke also to portray him how he is supposed to be. I know people like to joke about him because of how he acts and his standing point in the anime. Uchiha, Sasuke is NOT HOMOSEXUAL, HE DOES NOT "LOVE" NARUTO IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, AND HE IS NOT "EMO"!! Sasuke is the way he is for many different reasons. Until you understand why he acts the way he does, how he feels and understands the way he is, you can't begin to realize his personality. I know people might say I'm "emo" for saying this as well and I could care less cause it's the damn truth.
What is your favorite costume and why?
After making my own costume and since it is my first costume, i'd have to say Uchiha, Sasuke's Shippuden outfit.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
My overall dream costume that I'd like to make would have to be both my Phantasy Star Universe character: Luciendar AND Haseo (the 2nd or 3rd form, not sure which one I am going to cosplay yet.) from .hack//G.U. Vol.2//Reminisce.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Setsucon was such a great convention. Definitely the best convention so far for me. I cosplayed L for Setsucon on both days and it was such a blast. What made this most memorable was because it was my first time cosplaying as L and I got so much positive feedback. People gave/fed (lol) me candy! Cosplayed with the nurse from Silent Hill! (you are awesome haha) Improv skit was pretty funny, just wish we had a different scenario or something, wasn't sure how to go along with it.. :/ All the comments really made the weekend for me too, I'll definitely remember them all. Especially the guy who told me I made the convention for him, appreciated alot.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes
What was your best masquerade experience?
Well, I've only been in one masquerade and that was because I got called up on stage. It was during the improv skits at Setsucon. Since it was my only masquerade skit so far, it'd be the most memorable. It was pretty funny but I'd rather have had a more adaptable scenario.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
None yet, but I will definitely try and get some in the future.
Tell us a little about yourself
In college right now for an IT degree. Planning on getting a career either in game development or anime related. Most likely it will be a job related to gaming.
