What got you into cosplay?
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, for the simple fact of dressing up in fun costumes. I loved some of the outfits from my favorite video games & animes, and decided to try making one. I love theatrical plays, and dramatizing a character you love. Seeing people react and play along, is what makes cosplaying well worth it each time.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was from an old victorian/vampire styled character that I created for a larp game. I love victorian/historical designs, and it was a very simple costume and good grounds to learn how to sew the basics.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Definitely my Zero costume, from Code Geass. It was my first cosplay at a convention, so I was a bit nervous on how it would take, or if people would know who I was. Mind you, who doesn't like wearing a cape? It was very comfortable, and that character is one of my favorite of all times. I had a lot of people compliment and give good feedback, which makes me feel good to try cosplaying again at future conventions.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yes, Link from Twilight Princess. I've been a Zelda fan for years, but unfortunately I always go in groups to cosplay, and haven't had the chance to go alone or with a single friend.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Definitely this year at Anime North 2008, as Zero. We were stopped every 5 steps, but the people were very polite, and having people look up to you as a hero is priceless.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not as of yet, I wasn't quite sure what the masquerade was about, and I wasn't expecting the outcome we got on our costumes. I may look into it in the future years.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Never went.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Just a silly Hall Costume Award from a secret judge. We were sitting on a couch relaxing, so it was amusing to receive it.
Tell us a little about yourself
I live in Canada. I'm not very sociable, but I do love meeting new people and spending time with friends. I love video games, or any sort of game for that matter. I tend to like more serious anime, like Code Geass, Gundam Wing, Ghost in the Shell, etc. I study archeology, history, politics, and cultures. I currently work at EB Games, and it's great. I love traveling across the world, I've been to Egypt, Europe, Mexico to name a few. Hopefully going to Japan this year. My hobbies include archery, equestrian riding, weaponry, warfare, tactical and strategy games, reading, studying history and egyptology, etc. If you want to learn more, just ask.
