What got you into cosplay?
I'd always been a fan of Halloween and cosplay. And I was very much the artsy kid in school, so I was pretty crafty.
What was your first costume and why?
I was living out in San Francisco for my first year of art school at the Academy of Art University. Every year, they would have this huge street party in the Castro District, and I wanted to go that year. I'd always been a fan of Halloween and cosplaying, but had never really built a decent costume before. My first thoughts about cosplay got me back to my childhood and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, so I decided to be the Red Ranger.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My current cosplay, MGS4 Raiden. I continue to hone my craft and up the quality of my cosplays, and this one is the best one and the most well-recieved one thus far.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd like to make an armored costume, or something with fibreglass. I like to go with costumes that obscure or completely mask my face; it allows me to fully immerse myself in playing the character. My dream costume would be to revisit my Green Ranger costume and make a screen accurate version of it, helm and dagger and everything.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Fanime 2011. It was the debut of my Raiden cosplay, and I kept getting stopped every few feet for photos. It was awesome.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I'm not necessarily competitive.
