What got you into cosplay?
my friends and i were gonna attend a mini-con near where we live. Several of them already had costumes made, not very elaborate ones, but still costumes. So the night before we went i threw together a Misanagi costume from Rurouni Kenshin. We had so much fun with this last minute cosplay that we decided from then on we would go all out, and boy, have we!
What was your first costume and why?
Misanagi from Rurouni Kenshin, she had an easy costume however it looked really cool. and it was one i could throw together over night! ^_^
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume is my Wedding Yuna costume from Final Fantasy X. It is such a beautiful costume and was a major accomplishment for me, since it was such a difficult costume to make. I even had to make the pattern for it. i wore this costume for the first time at BAAF 2003.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Two I would say.....
definatly Sora from the escaflowne movie. it is such a beautiful costume, and i cannot wait to make it, I just am terrible and keep putting it off...
And also, Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop. She is just such a strong character. I love her look and style. I just really want to be her, and i have ever since i first saw Cowboy Bebop.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
when between my family,friends, and fellow UNYCS members we seemed to sweep the awards at Connecticon 05... and to think that our skit was made up the night before the con at like 1:30 am.... hahaha (my mom won first for craftsmanship in advanced, and me, my sister and our boyfriends and friend got first in advanced for performance) HAHAHHAHAHA.... it was fun.
Do you participate in masquerades?
yup, I love to, it is always what I look forward to at Cons, even tho it takes up a lot of time! (and they are usually poorly organized) :P
What was your best masquerade experience?
well, probably the first time i won an award in a masq. i won the design award for Craftmanship at AB 04 and met a lot of cool people in the process! so that was fabulous!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
mhm, Design award in Craftmanship at AB 04 and my group won Best of Show at Genericon '05, Honorable mention at AB 2005 for Craftsmanship on my Umi and Fuu costumes, 1st Place Performance (Journeyman) for the Star wars skit i was a part of at Connecticon 2005
Tell us a little about yourself
going to college at FIT. I am a former President and Co-founder of the Upstate NY Cosplay Society. I sit around mostly avoiding work :P
