What got you into cosplay?
I actually always wanted to become the character. Not just simply cosplaying them but being them. Every mannerism and action. Being something your not at all. The greatest joy is that when the same person sees you later when your not dressed up and not in character and confusing them. That's when you know that you truly became the character.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was actually Rocky from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It is my first costume and while it is simple, I went through great lengths to make sure it is screen accurate. I became Rocky, mainly because people on the cast wanted to see a blonde asian running around stage with only gold briefs, gold boxing shoes and well that's it. Somehow, it clicked and I love to play the role.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume was my Megaman costume I made for Rocky. It was a costume I took certain liberties with, mainly straying from canon. I basically made it a cross between Megaman the original and a little X thrown in. Blaster was streamlined and while the rest was not exactly kosher, the fact that I was Megaman without a doubt was my favorite.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yes, it's actually a childhood hero of mine. While the movie is morbid and violent, Robocop. I plan on making it completely top to bottom, side to side scratch.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My most memorable would be when I was dressed as Solid Snake and the grip of my toy gun was sticking out and turns to her mother and whispers, "Mommy... he has a gun....". She turns to the child and says that I was just a soldier on a train. I had no response... just head thwacking...
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have not gone to one yet, however, I would love to
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not yet soon though!
Tell us a little about yourself
I am currently in the United States Air Force, I love video games, martial arts, languages (which I know of three), books, cooking, cleaning (pretty much housebroken). I socialize with friends often and love to experience different things and share them. Life is not to be taken sitting down but running at full speed.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I do the Rocky Horror Picture Show at University Mall Cinemas in Downtown Fairfax every night on Saturday at Midnight. Come out on and hang out with the freaks of the night!
