I am so happy to be sewing again! With so much sadness lately, it feels very good to my brain. I've worked on this most of the weekend, which put my mind in sort of a zen-like state.... But anyhoo.

5-ish yards of ivory satin, 25 large scallops making the hem, with each scallop having 7 smaller scallops. I need to go get some gros-grain ribbon to make the waistband and map out the design that will be beaded onto the front panel in small strung pearls. I also need to sew the side seams (I plan to french seam so I can just overlock the satin edges and hide them) and measure and mark the pleats (they're just eyeballed and pinned in the photo). The pattern calls for gathering at the waist, but it seems less bulky if I flat-pleat it. So... I still have a lot to do, but I'm glad to have those scallops done. The rest of the dress is covered in them, but thankfully the rest are all bigger and hopefully easier.

It was about 7 hours to cut the fabric, trace the scallops on there, cut, edge, trim, and finish the edges (out of no-fray, hooray for clear nailpolish :) ) and pin. I'm still a novice, so I take three times longer than everyone else to do something. XD
