This is the sword and shield I used for the Tormund costume. Both of them can glow in red, blue, and purple, thanks to hidden LEDs. Unfortunately, the sword only glows when I hold a button hidden in the handle, so that's why it's not glowing in the picture. But hey, it's a good contrast.

These are plexiglass weapons with aluminum flashing on top. Behind the shield there is a handle with two switches for the LEDs, one for red, one for blue. (When both are on, they make the purple.) The sword was made from one of those toy swords that glow, but with the sword removed and replaced. The three buttons in the center of the hilt control the color, and there is a button in the handle to make the sword glow. The hilt is made from paperclay, but I wish I had done a better job smoothing it, it's my least favorite aspect of these things. T^T

Why make the weapons glow? Well, in the video game you can equip your weapons with elemental "motes," and they glow with a colored halo.
