The layered approach ended up sturdier than I thought - I can swing this puppy around, no problem.

Roughed in a bit of the gaps with the hot glue gun; I'll smooth it out properly once I seal the foam. Will try to make the teeth more pronounced, but they should stand out more once this is painted.

I also need to cut some bits for the screws, but those will go in last.
