The Medipack

Some minor details I plan to redo, but overall, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. The fiberglass job was rushed again, lol, so I turned up the notch on the weathering to compliment that.

Painting tips:

* Do weather everything. The in-game props have weathering AND the pack *will* get dinged. Might as well let the dings fit in. Weathered edges also make your prop stand out in photos.

* Masking fluid is awesome for paint chips. Basically, spray on a base coat (silver/gunmetal), apply masking fluid where paint should chip, spray on a new color coat, then rub off the masking fluid. Stack up multiple color layers for a cool effect.

* Enamel model paint is also great. Dry brush dark colors for overall grunge -- be especially grungy in any nooks and crannies where dirt can build up. Paint on silver directly for things like sharpened and severely dinged edges.

* Pitted metal -- Use a "hammered finish" spray enamel in silver. Once it's dry, rub in/off dark brown acrylic paint with a rag.

* Decal -- find some sticky-backed vinyl and cutout your shapes. Unless you have a good stencil or a steady hand, you will fail at painting it on.

* White area -- I wish I went with a higher gloss finish here. Oh, well.
