I had all of my staff gems painted the color on the left, and while it was pretty, it had a green shine (much greener than in this photo), and it was a rather dark blue. So, since I was already spending way too much time on this thing, I painted some spare, unpainted gems with a new color combo, and took my exacto knife to some of the previously painted ones and scapped the paint off and repainted them with a mix of the same blue and the iridescent white which has a purple shine. The result came out to be a pretty light blue with a soft blueish purpleish shine, as is the gem on the right. The new gem looks a little bare, but it looks fine in person.

Since the color of the gems is inconsistant (blue in some pictures, purple in others), I thought this was a better way to go. Overall, they definitely look like a light blue, but up close they have more of a colorful shine. Picky, I know, but whatever. XD
