I've been holding on to this photo since the March Toronto Anime Con (March TAC) hoping that the first time I'd be able to post my fiestas I'd actually be wearing my Natalia costume. Sadly I have yet to finish my costume, and other people have been wearing my fiestas since March, so I figured it was about time that I post a pic of them myself.

The story behind these silly things started with Scoti at Ohayocon 2008 where people were playing Tales of Destiny in the hotel room. In her tired and giddy state she asked, “Why is everyone having a fiesta?” when she saw the little flashy things that appeared over the characters heads. We though this was hilarious and kept talking about fiestas all con. A couple of months later Scoti and I were watching TV at home and talking about what costumes we could do for March TAC. I ran my silly idea of making actual fiestas by her (mostly to surprise Infini, who is a big Tales of fan) and received a thumbs up, so I churned out a half dozen of them for the con and the silliness has spread from there.

If you’ve seen these at March TAC, Ad Astra, Anime Central, Anime North, or Youmacon, they’re all my fault. Sorry. XD The funny thing though is that I get more attention with these things than I do when I’m wearing an actual costume. XD
