genie wig instructions

After researching how other people made their Belldandy wigs, I saw that the biggest complaint was the weight, and that it ended up being small because of a gathered ponytail so I avoided all that. Bonus: this wig only took 1 hour to make!
1.) I used 2 Cosworx wigs: an Linda XXL and Wisp in color 24. I chose a dark blonde wig over brown because Belldandy's hair is always changing colors depending on the reference. I wanted to err on the lighter side and I'm pretty happy with the color.
2.) I cut the front off of the Linda (long) wig. This is the long wig separated. I sewed the front portion on top of the Wisp (short) wig for the bangs.
3.) I used 3M spray adhesive and glued brown felt onto a styrofoam egg. I took the back of the long wig and hotglued it to the felt. The felt serves 2 purposes: it acts as a barrier between the hot glue and the styrofoam, as hot glue melts styrofoam. It also matches the haircolor, so if the egg shows through, it won't be noticeable.
4.) I gathered the sides of the remaining wig and handsewed them together in a line around the egg so the underside of the wig wouldn't be exposed. For the ring, I used a cardboad ring from a roll of masking tape and covered it in fabric. I hot glued the egg in there, and then used more felt and hot glue to secure large safety pins .
5.) I pinned the ponytail on the back of the short wig, and cut the back of the short wig a little shorter. I saved time by not having to curl extensions, because the long wig was already curly. Even though it's not a true ponytail, the headdress will cover the hairline so no one can tell. Also, before I wear it I will brush it. :P
