It makes me sort of depressed to think that this is the first new costume I've made in over a year (I've had multiple projects on the go the entire time, but none of them are this close to completion). Added to that is the fact that I've been working on this particular one on and off for the past couple of years. I think I started the jacket back when I still lived in residence, though everything else was done in the last year. Not that any of it was super hard, I'm just generally lazy and easily distracted by other projects. But whatever... at least it's almost done.

Pictured is the jacket, corset and belt. The pants are also finished, but I didn't feel like wearing them for the picture. Probably only 15% of the jacket was machine sewn, everything else (ie, the gold) was hand stitched (why do I do this to myself?). There are also about a dozen lines of matching gold bias tape on the corset, but the jacket hides them. The only part of what you see that I didn't make is the "buckle" on the belt. Featherweight was wonderful enough to make that for me last summer out of scraps of cardboard around my apartment, during a marathon of How I Met Your Mother. He is very resourceful. ^_^ I painted it and then put it on the actual belt.

All that's left are the gloves and the boots. Hopefully I'll at least have on of the two done before the end of the week. Yay!
