For those inquiring about L.E.D. use in props/costumes/etc :

Here is the comparison of what I have been talking about when taking photos. The top shot uses a high (normal) flash from a few feet away, and while the overall detail is crisper, the little lights are really drowned out. The bottom is with no flash (indoors in flourescent overhead lighting) and even though it's blurrer, the lights look a lot more mystical/flame-like.

In person, the sword looks somewhere between the two extremes. For future lighted props, I'm going to be switching over to a bit more intense lamps so this issue won't be as pronounced.
