So, this is the gorgeous dress (I think it was a McCalls pattern, but I forget the number). It definitely looks more shapely when not being hung up, I assure you. The three-quarter undersleeves make it look a little disproportionate.
It was tailor-made for me by a neighbour who's a retired seamstress, so it's beautifully made; serged edges and everything, especially on the sheer undersleeves. There's even some serged elastic to slip over my middle finger to keep the pointy sleeves in place ^_^. The material is black cuddle-satin, with the lining of a similar material. The trim is just white fabric ribbon sewn on. The original decision to have Seraphine wear a black dress was to recycle this one, but it also fits well for one who's dark but pious (and I guess darkly pious...) and can definitely afford to have a black dress in her wardrobe. Eventually I'll have photos of me IN the dress, and I assure you it's deliciously swishy.
