Kimono details

Kimono details - bleach - Kyoraku Shunsui
so you may begin with the "that's not 100% Accuracy rant now. You're right, it's not. See, in the Manga the pink Kimono changes a little from Turn back the pendulum and even now. Kubo has said it's a "cheep pink kimono" but the theme of both clouds and flowers were ever present. So I was experimenting with both painting the fabric with dyes AND bleach. To me Shunsui has always been a little on the "artsy" side so I took the liberty to be artsy with this. I read up on some of the stylizations of Japanese art, found decent base fabrics and slowly pulled the piece together. let me tell you, the embroidery is tedious! However it was my first time and a great stepping stone.
its' sewn together awkwardly, the shoulders are made so they will cup my shoulders while wearing it. and the bottom of the kimono flairs outwards so it'll give the nice wide flow effect when I walk. this has been over a year project and hope to have it finished by NDK 2010.

big thanks to EBK For the Photo!
