Still need to add the little pigtails and bows, and beef up the braid a bit.
Styling this wig took about 3-5 hours, I think. I had to cut the bangs first, which was the most time consuming. After cutting them, you have to 'melt' them into going in the right direction, which means quite a bit of blowdrying and curling and re-curling with steam curlers.
After that, I made sure I had the pieces in the front, then trimmed everything shorter. Because the wig was wavy to begin with, this took a while too, because all of the unruly pieces in the back had to be curled correctly, so they fell right.
Following this was the most harrowing part. Dyeing the wig. Using Katie Bair's wig dye, I had to change the color of it from this bubblegum pink, to something that more resembles salmon. *_* Between the wig, and the rest of the costume, I think I'm going to wait a while before taking on something pink again!
Anyway. Bangs were poofy-fied with lots and lots of hairspray, and a good deal of patience. I still need to trim the side pieces a little shorter to get them to match the reference image. Also, I'm still messing with the braid, trying to make it a little more prominent. ^^;; It's going well, though!
