This is a jewelry project I did as a gift for a friend. She was doing a shaman priestess type of costume/persona for faire and other events. Her character worships the holy frog. So, I designed a tribal frog emblem and made an amulet for her as a surprise. (She loved it, and she's actually getting the design done as a tattoo!)

I actually made this thing like 8 years ago or so, but I just now finally was able to take a photo of it. It's not as polished up and mirror-finished as it used to be, but other than that I was happy to see that it's been well taken care of.

The amulet is yellow brass that went through 2 acid-etching processes, one on top of the other. The dual-layer effect was an accidental result of that, but I think it adds to the rustic look. I also made the large jump rings myself, they're sterling silver. The cord is braided DMC embroidery floss.

The whole concept was based on a weird inside joke spawned by Quina from Final Fantasy IX. (And believe me, we have tons of them.) FROG IS SOURCE OF ALL LIFE!
