It takes a demon to stop a demon. This was the thought going through Hakkai's head when he took off his limiters. But now that combat has begun it has become painfully and unmistakeably clear. There was something more intimidating than the slitted gaze they both possess, more dangerous than their claws, more frightening than the lightning that Goku's rage called down, and more absolute than the grip of Hakkai's vines. As Hazel had most aptly put...'That's the cruelty of a child.'
*runs around in spastic circles for a moment*
Ahem...anyways. I'm happy wit this, can you tell? =D
This started as a shot that I had requested at the Saiyuki gathering at Fanime. I had made vines that could wrap around things, so I wanted to take advantage of that. I wanted to try and re-create part of the fight between youkai Goku and youkai Hakkai, the scene where Goku is slamming Hakkai around and Hakkai uses his vines on Goku's hand and reverses the situation. I ended up going with a Gaiden Goku...since there weren't any beaten-up youkai Goku's present. I was super happy with how the photo came out too!
That's why I decided to make it as epic as possible! I searched for a setting that would be believable for the Saiyuki world at that point in the story. But that wasn't enough. So I fiddled with the colors to try and make it feel more dark and night-like, but that wasn't enough either. I had to add in blood and rain. Oh man rain...that was an interesting challenge, but I'm happy with the end result.
