Menial progress from yesterday but I am pretty happy with how they came out. I need to figure out a way to seal the red on the bottom (even the soles are painted to stay true to the game model)...
These used to be beaded-over-the-knee-slouchy-cowboy boots. I remade the back and removed the slouch/beads/cowboy styling and put a series of snaps on them since I didn't have enough fabric left to install a zipper. The only wonky part about these is that the back of the heel has a bit of excess fabric so where the fabric gets cut away there's a flap that needs to be velcroed down :<
I modified the heel on these because originally there was no "sole" between the heel and toe of the boot.
I might try to handsew a seam down the center of these things for super duper accuracy but I don't know if that is possible given that the toe of the boot is too thick to sew through. Still, I just love the heel on these things as well as the fact that it has that rounded seam over the foot, I couldn't have found anything closer if I'd kept looking. I always have thought that Maria's boots should be made out of suede and not regular leather/vinyl; perhaps I'm making a lot out of nothing but the model's patchiness really reminded me of the nap that only suede can have. Leather would have just been slightly shiny, or maybe even matte looking.
The white patches are dust on the mirror, not on the actual boots.

I think it's awesome that you put so much care into the details of your costumes. Those sounded really difficult to alter!
