The costume was commission 4 days ago. It took a day and a half to get fabric then the last 48 hours were spent making the whole costume. I delivered it to the person today and she loved it.
The base of the parrot is sort of based on the gowns the people in the church choir wear. Just because they have big baggy sleeves. The hood and eyes I drafted myself as well. The eyes are one big button a small button and black paint in the middle of the small button. The color around the eyes is red and orange paint I lightly swept on to look a little more blended. The feathers are made from a fleece type fabric. It's NOT fleece or polar fleece. I can't remember the name but its super soft. The pattern for the feather cape thing I drafted myself. It took about 8hours to cut out all the feathers then another 2.5 hours to sew them all on one by one. The feather fabric in front is the cooler or lighter colors of the colors I used in back except for the purple and burgundy.
