Seth WIP: Breast Plate - trinity blood - seth nightroad
I've never done prop work so this has been a very fun experiment. I really enjoyed making it and already planned a cosplay to do in the future thats more prop heavy XD

Merci! Les détails sont fait avec du "hot glue" qui a été couler dans une moule en silicone. Merci d'avoir utilisé un français très simple pour que je comprenne facilement.

shushuwafflez replied on 04-10-2012 at 10:33 AM:

I used a silicone mold to make them! Sorry took forever to answer. You can find the molds in cake decorating section.

Limeyaku posted on 01-08-2012 at 04:13 PM:

This is incredible! Did you do this as one piece? It almost looks like there are seams down the front like there would be on a bodice. Also, what was the thickness of the foam? I'm researching a couple different methods to make some Erza armor ( Fairy Tail ) but I want something that will still be flattering and trying to avoid the extra bulk.

shushuwafflez replied on 01-08-2012 at 04:35 PM:

thanks so much!

This was made all one piece. I made reference lines before shaping so that when I put the decorative pieces on it, I would have some thing to guide me.

This foam starts out at 1/2 inch. But once you stretch it and form it (if done correctly), it becomes about 1/4 inch thick.

I 've seen someone use this metod to make mass effect armor for females and it didn't look bulky at all. It just looked like a real armor and she looked awesome.

haruharu posted on 01-08-2012 at 01:24 PM:

Hi...I love the cool that you cast them all in glue.

Do you mean foam core, like the kind they sell at stationary stores?

shushuwafflez replied on 01-08-2012 at 01:28 PM:

I used foam mats that you often find in automotive sections. Got mine at Walmart XD

kaori1 posted on 01-07-2012 at 09:50 PM:

Oh my goodness! I am completely jealous of your skills How did you mold it into the proper shape? Is this really just craft foam?

shushuwafflez replied on 01-08-2012 at 11:38 AM:

Thanks! It's a thicker foam. Those ones they sell for standing on the connects like puzzles. Super Cheap! It took couple of tries to get the shape and it wasn't too difficult

This is stunning. The detail work makes me think of lace made of metal. Absolutely amazing craftsmanship!

Thanks lots! I will keep working hard on it

Celyddon posted on 01-07-2012 at 11:03 AM:

Wow! This looks like metal! (I know it isn't, but it looks real.)

How did you shape the foam to get such smooth curves? I have another armor project this upcoming year, and curves are the bane of my existence.

shushuwafflez replied on 01-07-2012 at 11:31 AM:

Thanks!! It was quite an experiement since I've never done props before.

I had extra set of hands to help me give it a good pull over a french style dress form. It took 2 tries to really get the curve nice and smooth. I think the trick is to let the foam heat up nice and evenly in the oven before stretching it.

I'm still learning how to do these things, but I hope what I said helped
