My Finished Scythe-thing

My Finished Scythe-thing - -
I've been on such a Shaman King kick lately and I decided I REALLY want to cosplay Faust VIII. After reading volume 5 today and seeing him be all epic and whatnot, I knew I had to do SOMETHING for my cosplay today, so I decided to make my Scythe. It took probably about 2 1/2 hours to make, and a lot of work went into it. It's made of a shelving pole, some cardboard, wooden chopsticks, and a helluva lotta duct tape.

Basically, here's how I made it: I covered the shelf pole in duct tape a few weeks ago, and then today I cut out the blade part from some cardboard that was leftover from making the Imagine blade, and then covered that in silver and black duct tape. Then I covered the chopsticks in duct tape. The hardest part came when attaching the blade to the chopsticks so it would be slightly away from the pole like Faust's scythe actually is. That part definitely sucked the most and I think I'll have to re-enforce it with hot glue (If my friend cosplaying Eliza ever finds the glue gun) but I'm really proud of it.

At 5 feet, it's almost as tall as I am (I'm 5'5"...yeah, I'm gonna be a short Faust VIII) and since volume 5 of the shaman king manga was my chief source of reference pictures, it's supposed to look how the scythe does there.

I look forward to getting the rest of my costume done now that I have my awesome prop ^^
