Women in the Heian era of Japan wore their hair long and unadorned due to sumptuary laws. However, Tanemura-sensei drew Sakura with gorgeous hairpins featuring flowers and ribbons. I took advantage of this and had a blast making this hairpin. I think it turned out well.
I was happy to use the hair jewels to resemble moonbeams since Sakura is a descendant of Kaguya Hime from the moon!
There is a second hairpin. It is a similar style but not exactly the same as this.
