The white around the arms is from the same boot material as the fur on the boots.
The suckiest thing about the shirt is that the arm-detail isn't cotton, so it doesn't behave like it and stays really stiff all the time. During the con, I was constantly pushing out my chest to account for any gapping that happened along my shoulder blades. It's a good thing Korra carries herself around like that in canon, or I would have felt pretty slutterific.
I would have altered the fur trim, but the pieces are put together like a freakin' puzzle. There aren't many seams along them that are traditional shirt sleeves; most cut at radical diagonals and are cut to fit perfectly with the next piece. It looks really neat, it just sucks it can't be altered without some heavy effort.
