The hiogi fan is painted at last. I used reference images of traditional hiogi fans and the fan illustrations used in the manga.
Traditionally, the fan would have a painted nature scene with stylized clouds, complete with multicolored tassels and silk balls of flowers at the ends. Instead of using the usual reds, greens, and other such colors, I opted to use pastel colors to match the color scheme of Sakura's kimono.
I'm pleased with the sakura blossom branch having the three elements of traditional ikebana flower arranging: heaven, earth, and man.
I like the sponging effect of the silver and white paint. The bottom of the fan was the most challenging portion to paint!
