OoT Link's Tunic

OoT Link's Tunic - Legend of Zelda - Link
Alrighty, I didn't really think it was necessary to show the tunic in progress, there's plenty of tutorials online, and it's a pretty basic pattern. This is just for a few friends who wanted to see some updates. :)

There's poor lighting & no flash, so the colour is faded, apologies! I also didn't add the belt loops yet, and the belt is just to give an idea of how it'll look when I wear it properly. Here's a quick rundown for those interested~

Tunic is a jersey knit (each tunic & hat took 2 XL t-shirts of the proper colour), since I had an abundance of shirts giving for free from work, and I can't wear XL size, I use them for fabric. If there are symbols or markings on the tees, just invert them, so the symbol is inside. Yes yes, I understand jersey knit has a different weave on each side, but for us poor pandas, it still looks great in photo, and is a great option to re-use & recycle materials in the house. Cosplay should be open to everyone, not just the rich.

Collar has a thick interfacing, to help keep it's shape. I was very happy at how it turned out, it took some thinking to avoid having a seam on the edge, so it's hidden underneath. There is actually a lining to this tunic, I used a couple black t-shirts to thicken it up. It doesn't fall as wavy because of the added material, but it does keep you a heck of a lot warmer. I love layers, even in the middle of summer, so this step can be skipped for most.

To also help with cost, I used the closest coloured thread I had in stock already, since all the hems are hidden, I didn't have to worry about it showing unless you slightly pull the seam to see it.

Total Cost: 15$ for 3 Tunics, including hats (Green, Red & Blue), plus lining for each. I had to buy another red t-shirt, because I only owned one. Plus two more tees in case of trial & errors, and future repairs.

Nice to see a t-shirt method! I was thinking of doing Link with t-shirts for AN this year...

You still should! There's never too many Zelda cosplays around, haha~

Thank you!

Yush! T-shirts are great, they're usually always cotton too, so you can dye them to boot. Jersey at fabric stores in my area, is always overly priced...
