Can I just say how much I DREADED this cosplay.
I agreed because my friends' P&S group was looking stellar and, even though Brief is not my usual style of character, I wanted in on that shizz. But for such a simple cosplay, everything was a struggle.
The tux, bought in my tried and true (and measured and remeasured) size came with with the coat slightly too large and the pants beyond too small.
The wig came in and I found out I look truly awful without bangs.
The shoes I painted (with a leather paint I have used a dozen times) cracked the first time I put them on.
I worried a lot about cosplaying a character I don't really *get* and how I would pose for photos.
But I worked through each disaster. I wore inaccurate black dress shoes (I've since bought real white ones). The coat, in all honestly, isn't perfect but isn't the un-tailored horror I initially perceived. I learned (the night before the con) how to add inches to the waist of men's dress pants. I ran to the vendor hall on Day 1 of the con and bought a brand new wig and styled it on my head.
And you know what? I kind of love this cosplay now. I wasn't able to wear it long on our debut, but I'm pumped to wear it again with my friends.
There might be a lesson to this long-ass ramble. Don't give up on your dreams, kids. Shia LaBeouf said so.
