For my next act...
Jaina Solo
Ho ho ho. Time to get out of my post-AX slump and start on my costumes for AniMagic. For my next act, Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess!
Did you know that no two reference images of Belldandy agree with one another? That's right, folks! It's TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE to be exactly accurate with her, because no matter what picture you base her off of, another picture will say "WRONGO!"
So that's that. My Belldandy costume will most definitely be not perfectly accurate; in some aspects, it's just impossible to be accurate, in others, I'm changing the design just 'cause I don't like it. Like, what's up with that ugly V-cut up the back of the blue dress? Not happening. U.U
Anyway, these are the thingies I've finished so far; the hair band (no turban for me, thank you), the necklace, and the broach. Rather than using a more natural gold color for the gold pieces, I went for a more yellow-gold since in reference pictures it shows her jewelry almost matching the yellow triangles on her blue dress. Which required a ridiculous amount of custom hand-painting. -.-*
Instead of using metal for the necklace, I ended up using leftover PVC foam from the wings I've been making for the costume; it certainly doesn't look as nice as metal, but A) I'm no metalsmith, and B) I was curious to see what other uses I could find for the PVC foam. It doesn't look fantastic, but it doesn't look bad, either.
Also, in all of the pictures, the broach never seemed to agree on color. In the 2005 Anime, it was aquamarine. In the 2000 Movie, it was dark blue. In other pictures, it was sky-blue. So, I compromised and mixed all the colors together!
